Division II
TAKING ACTION: Name, Image, Likeness
In the Association’s continuing efforts to support college athletes, the NCAA Board of Governors voted unanimously to permit students participating in athletics the opportunity to benefit from the use of their name, image and likeness in a manner consistent with the collegiate model.
Award of Excellence: Gulf South Conference: Montevallo

The University of Montevallo’s softball student-athletes, coaches and staff members hosted their second annual Halloween Spooktacular in conjunction with the city of Montevallo’s Hometown Halloween. During this event, children were able to play various carnival games, win prizes, get their faces painted, show off their Halloween costumes, trick-or-treat and, of course, interact with the softball team. Members interacted with more than 700 people from the greater Shelby County community.
Award of Excellence: Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference - Colorado School of Mines and Regis (Colorado)

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees from Colorado School of Mines and Regis (Colorado) teamed up to put on their first Team IMPACT Christmas Carnival. Team IMPACT players and their teammates in the Denver area participated in carnival games and Christmas-themed activities. The event offered free carnival food, including pizza, cotton candy, hot dogs and popcorn. Each Team IMPACT player decorated their own gift bag and won prizes from each booth they visited.
Madison's Wish

Washburn’s volleyball team was connected with a Make-A-Wish child, Madison Welsh, at its quarterfinal appearance in Pittsburgh for the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championships Festival. Since then, Washburn, Madison and her family have been sharing photos and videos as she battles pediatric multiple sclerosis. This past summer, the Washburn volleyball team hosted a sand volleyball tournament to raise money to fly Madison and her family from Pittsburgh to Topeka, Kansas, for a home volleyball game. She attended Washburn’s opening weekend of conference play in September, and was the honorary captain at Washburn’s home football game! The team hosted Madison and her family all weekend and were featured on an Instagram Takeover on the NCAA Division II Instagram account.
